An IT staff member, often an IT support specialist or assistant, helps an organization's employees with computer systems, software, hardware, and networks by resolving issues, installing new technology, providing technical guidance, and ensuring overall system functionality. Key duties include troubleshooting problems, installing and configuring systems, managing network resources, responding to user requests via help desk or other channels, and maintaining the IT infrastructure to support business operations. Common Responsibilities
- Technical Support:Resolving hardware and software issues for end-users through various channels like phone, email, or in-person.
- System Administration:Installing, configuring, and maintaining operating systems, applications, and network components.
- Hardware & Software Management:Setting up new computers, installing drivers, updating software, and maintaining peripherals.
- User Support:Providing onboarding support for new hires and assisting with account and permission management.
- Problem Diagnosis:Gathering data and analyzing problems to find and implement technical solutions.
- System Maintenance:Monitoring systems, performing regular updates, and ensuring data integrity.
- Documentation:Logging all service requests and updating tickets to track issues and resolutions.
Essential Skills
- Technical Aptitude:Strong understanding of computer systems, networks, operating systems, and software applications.
- Problem-Solving Skills:Ability to diagnose technical issues, analyze information, and develop effective solutions.
- Communication Skills:Clear and concise communication, including active listening to understand user problems and effective instruction to guide users through solutions.
- Attention to Detail:A keen eye for detail is necessary for managing configurations, permissions, and system updates.
- Time Management & Organization:Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple requests simultaneously, and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
Work Environment
- IT staff often work in moderate noise environments.
- The role may require physical tasks such as lifting and carrying equipment or working in awkward positions to access hardware.
While typically a Monday-Friday schedule, some roles may involve shifts or on-call work, requiring flexibility and potentially extra hours to resolve urgent issues.
Prior administrative experience or any related course
- Excellent computer skills(excel and Microsoft)
- Attention to detail.
- College Graduate (4 years-COMPUTER RELATED COURSE)
- Proficient in troubleshooting
