About the role

Our Company is seeking an experienced Sr. GIS Technician to join our team on a contract basis. As a Sr. GIS Technician, you will be responsible for providing advanced GIS analysis and reporting services to support our exploration operations. This is a critical role that will directly contribute to the strategic planning and decision-making for our business.

What you'll be doing

  • Create, maintain and update GIS databases, maps, and reports using softwares
  • Compile data required for map preparation such as aerial photographs, survey notes, records, reports, and original maps
  • Encode data and digitize maps generated by the exploration team upon the approval of the supervising geologist
  • Perform map data processing including importing, validation and reporting under the supervision of the supervsing geologist
  • Ensure that GIS database and maps are accurately updated
  • Provide assistance and training to other database and GIS users
  • Adhere to the protocols in place for standard data management and map generation
  • Ensure that all activities are conducted in accordance to industry standards and company protocols
  • Ensure compliance to safety, health and environment standards in all work areas
  • Perform activities which may be assigned by Department Head

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior GIS Technician or Analyst role, preferably in the mining industry
  • Expertise in using GIS software such as Mapinfo, GEMS, Surpac, Autocad
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Knowledge of mining operations, exploration, and resource management processes
