Accounting Generalist – Construction Accounting (Remote)

Position Overview

We're seeking a skilled Accounting Generalist with a strong background in construction accounting to join our growing team. This role will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring accurate job cost tracking, and supporting project managers with financial reporting.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting, percentage-of-completion accounting, draw preparation, accounts receivable and accounts payable (AP & AR).

Key Responsibilities

· Maintain accurate and timely financial records for multiple residential construction projects.

· Prepare and analyze WIP reports, ensuring accurate revenue recognition under percentage-of-completion methods.

· Manage and track project draws and coordinate with lenders and clients for funding requests.

· Process and reconcile accounts payable, including subcontractor invoices, purchase orders, and vendor payments.

· Support month-end and year-end closings, journal entries, and reconciliations.

· Collaborate with project managers to monitor job cost budgets and financial performance.

· Assist with compliance documentation, lien waivers, and contract tracking.

· Contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting systems and internal controls.

Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).

· 3+ years of accounting experience in the construction industry required.

· Strong understanding of WIP and percentage-of-completion accounting methods.

· Proficiency in QuickBooks, MS Office and Google Workspace

· Strong Excel skills and attention to detail.

· Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

· Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining collaboration with the team.
