OVERVIEW

The Logistics and Import Supervisor oversee the efficient transportation, importation, and delivery of goods while ensuring compliance with international trade regulations. This role involves managing logistics operations, coordinating with suppliers and customs brokers, and optimizing costs to meet business objectives. The supervisor ensures timely delivery of imported goods, maintains proper documentation, and liaises with cross-functional teams to achieve operational excellence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Import Operations Management:

  • Supervise all import activities, including customs clearance, documentation, and transportation.
  • Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, including tariffs, taxes, and import restrictions.
  • Collaborate with customs brokers and freight forwarders to streamline import processes.

Logistics Coordination:

  • Plan and oversee the transportation of goods from ports to warehouses or customer locations.
  • Monitor shipment schedules and ensure timely delivery of goods.
  • Optimize shipping routes and methods to reduce costs while maintaining service quality.

Compliance and Documentation:

  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of import documentation, such as bills of lading, commercial invoices, and certificates of origin.
  • Stay updated on regulatory changes and implement necessary adjustments to compliance practices.

Vendor and Supplier Management:

  • Establish and maintain relationships with shipping companies, freight forwarders, and suppliers.
  • Negotiate contracts and rates with logistics providers to achieve cost savings.

Inventory and Warehouse Coordination:

  • Coordinate with warehouse teams to ensure proper handling and storage of imported goods.

Issue Resolution:

  • Address and resolve logistics and import-related issues, such as delays, damages, or discrepancies.
  • Implement corrective actions to prevent recurring problems.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Analyze logistics and import data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide regular reports to management on key performance metrics and cost analysis.

Team Leadership and Training:

  • Supervise and guide logistics and import staff to ensure alignment with company goals.
  • Conduct training on regulatory compliance, documentation, and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business, or a related field.
  • Experience in logistics, import operations, and supply chain management.
  • Strong knowledge of customs regulations, international trade laws, and shipping documentation.
  • Proficiency in logistics management software and tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and negotiation skills.

On-Time Delivery Rate:

  • Percentage of imported goods delivered to their destination on or before the scheduled date.

Customs Clearance Time:

  • Average time taken for goods to clear customs.

Import Compliance Rate:

  • Percentage of shipments compliant with all regulatory and documentation requirements.

Cost to Deliver:

  • Average transportation cost incurred per delivery.

Logistics Cost Savings:

  • Reduction in logistics costs achieved through optimization and vendor negotiations.

Shipment Accuracy Rate:

  • Percentage of shipments delivered without errors or discrepancies.

Damage Rate:

  • Percentage of goods damaged during transit or handling.

Claims Resolution Time:

  • Average time taken to resolve claims for lost or damaged shipments.

Cost of Compliance:
