We are hiring a Purchasing Supervisor to oversee direct material procurement for engineered components within a discrete manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both leadership and day-to-day execution, with the opportunity to supervise one team member while driving continuous improvement in sourcing, supplier management, and cost optimization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the purchasing and sourcing function for engineered components and custom-fabricated parts.
  • Manage the full procurement cycle: supplier identification, quoting, negotiation, contracting, and performance management.
  • Place and manage blanket purchase orders, ensuring timely replenishment and cost-efficiency.
  • Negotiate lead times, payment terms, pricing, and long-term agreements.
  • Purchase "to print" by reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOM).
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to ensure parts meet required standards.
  • Resolve supplier issues related to delays, quality, and capacity constraints.
  • Maintain accurate procurement data, inventory levels, and supplier performance metrics.
  • Lead and mentor one team member while still functioning as a active contributor ("doer-leader").

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or any related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in purchasing, sourcing, or supply chain, ideally in a discrete or industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Strong background in direct materials procurement, ideally with machined, fabricated, or engineered components.
  • Experience purchasing to engineering prints (must be able to interpret drawings/specs).
  • Proven success in negotiating pricing, long-term agreements, and supplier performance.
  • Hands-on experience with blanket orders, MRP systems, and PO processing.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
  • Leadership experience is a plus; willingness to lead a small team is required.
