Job Brief

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our accounting practice and support a portfolio of Australian clients. This role is suited to someone with a deep understanding of multiple business structures—sole traders, trusts, companies, and SMSFs—and strong experience in compliance work, including BAS, IAS, and annual tax return preparation. You will be responsible for preparing management accounts, tax accounts, and providing support across various compliance obligations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS, and other ATO compliance reports across all entity types.
  • Prepare annual financial statements and income tax returns for sole traders, companies, trusts, and SMSFs.
  • Generate management accounts for clients to support business decision-making.
  • Ensure all client work is accurate, compliant, and completed within agreed timelines.
  • Assist with client correspondence related to compliance, ATO enquiries, and financial reporting.
  • Maintain clear and up-to-date documentation across all assigned client files.
  • Collaborate with senior accountants and partners to ensure the highest standard of service delivery.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in an Australian public practice accounting firm.
  • In-depth knowledge of Australian tax laws, compliance obligations, and ATO reporting requirements.
  • Proven experience working with sole traders, partnerships, companies, trusts, and SMSFs.
  • Strong skills in preparing BAS, IAS, and annual returns.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Based in the Philippines, with full-time availability during Australian business hours.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple client files concurrently.

Desirable

  • Experience using Xero, Xero Tax, MYOB, BGL, or other Australian cloud-based accounting tools.
  • Familiarity with document management and workflow systems used in public practice.
  • Knowledge of corporate secretarial compliance and trust distributions is a plus.
  • CPA or CA qualified (or working towards qualification).

Software Proficiency

  • Accounting: Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks Online
  • Tax & Compliance: Xero Tax, ATO Online Services for Agents, BGL (for SMSF)
  • Productivity: Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Google Workspace
  • Document Management: Dropbox, Google Drive, or similar
