What You'll Do
As Deputy Head for Compensation and Payroll, you will be entrusted with steering both strategic direction and day-to-day execution across all facets of compensation management.   • Develop and execute comprehensive compensation strategies that align with organisational objectives and reflect current market trends.
  • Partner with senior leadership to provide expert insights on compensation structures, payroll policies, and long-term workforce planning.
  • Oversee all aspects of high-volume payroll operations to guarantee accuracy, compliance with regulations, and timely delivery for a diverse employee base.
  • Implement best practice methodologies to optimise payroll processes while maintaining strict adherence to local labour laws and tax requirements.
  • Monitor key performance indicators related to payroll efficiency and proactively address any operational challenges or process gaps.
  • Lead initiatives aimed at modernising payroll systems by introducing digital tools and automation solutions that enhance scalability and employee satisfaction.
  • Manage, mentor, and support a high-performing team of payroll and compensation professionals to foster their growth and ensure departmental excellence.
  • Promote cross-functional alignment between HR, Finance, IT, and other departments to facilitate seamless payroll operations across the organisation.
  • Drive adoption of innovative technologies that improve compensation planning, reporting accuracy, and overall employee experience.
  • Ensure robust internal controls are in place by conducting regular audits of payroll systems to mitigate risks associated with compliance or data integrity.

  • A minimum of 10 years' progressive experience managing both high-volume payroll operations and strategic compensation programmes within large organisations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing salary benchmarking processes, incentive schemes, equity plans, and other advanced compensation frameworks.
  • Proven track record overseeing multi-geography or multi-business unit payrolls with unwavering attention to detail and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience leading successful digital transformation projects within HR or payroll functions that have resulted in measurable improvements in efficiency or employee satisfaction.
  • VP-level background managing sizeable teams; adept at inspiring collaboration among diverse groups toward common objectives.
  • Exceptional communication skills enabling you to present complex data-driven insights clearly to C-suite stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of local labour laws, tax regulations, benefits administration requirements, and risk mitigation strategies relevant to payroll processing.
  • Ability to implement robust internal controls through regular system audits ensuring data integrity across all platforms used for compensation management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills fostering cross-departmental cooperation between HR, Finance, IT, and other business units involved in payroll activities.
