Category Buyer

Key Responsibilities

• Product Selection & Buying – Identify, source, and purchase merchandise aligned with the brand's identity, customer needs, and market trends.
• Assortment Planning – Build the right product mix per category (style, size, color, price point) to maximize sales and profitability.
• Vendor Management – Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
• Trend & Market Analysis – Monitor fashion trends, competitor activities, and consumer behavior to inform buying decisions.
• Inventory Management – Ensure optimal stock levels by coordinating replenishment, monitoring sell-through, and minimizing overstocks/stockouts.
• Sales & Margin Performance – Analyze category performance, track KPIs (sales, margins, sell-through, inventory turnover), and take corrective action when needed.
• Collaboration – Work closely with merchandising, visual display, marketing, and store teams to ensure effective product launches and promotions.
• Seasonal Planning – Participate in seasonal buying trips, trade shows, and collection reviews to forecast demand and curate assortments.

Qualifications

• Must have proven experience as a Buyer/Category Buyer in a fashion retail company.
• Strong understanding of fashion trends, consumer behavior, and market dynamics.
• Demonstrated ability in assortment planning, product selection, and category management.
• Skilled in vendor sourcing, negotiation, and supplier relationship management.
• Proficient in sales analysis, margin management, and inventory performance metrics.
• Experience coordinating with merchandising, marketing, and store operations for product launches.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with familiarity in sell-through, inventory turnover, and KPI tracking.
• Ability to participate in seasonal buying activities, trade shows, and collection reviews.
• Exceptional communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
