Deck Crew Rating Job Description

  • Assist Deck Officers: Help with navigational duties, cargo loading and discharge, and maintaining ship stability.
  • Perform Navigation Duties: Act as a lookout or steersman under the direction of the officer on watch.
  • Carry Out Maintenance: Clean and maintain the deck and exterior areas of the ship.
  • Handle Equipment: Operate and maintain deck equipment like winches, cranes, and derricks, and assist with mooring and unmooring operations.
  • Security: Contribute to the overall security of the vessel.

Deck Officer Job Description

  • Navigation and Safety: Maintain watches on the bridge, plan passages, and ensure the safe navigation of the vessel.

  • Perform Routine Maintenance: Check, clean, grease, oil, and carry out other routine maintenance on the ship's engine and machinery.
  • Monitor and Record: Take readings from engine controls and monitor operational parameters.
  • Maintain Engine Room: Keep the engine room areas clean and well-maintained.
  • Safety and Electrical Systems: Assist with the maintenance of safety and electrical systems.

Engine Officer Job Description
