The General Accountant maintains accurate books, prepares management reports, processes payroll and statutory contributions, and ensures timely tax and regulatory compliance. The role supports a fast-moving SME/manufacturing environment with strict cut-offs and audit trails.

Key duties & responsibilities1) General ledger & month-end close

  • Post and review journal entries (accruals, prepaids, depreciation, FX revaluation).
  • Maintain chart of accounts; reconcile subledgers (AP/AR/Inventory/Fixed Assets) to GL.
  • Prepare monthly trial balance, schedules, and working papers; support external audit.
  • Deliver month-end management pack (P&L, BS, cash-flow, variances) within SLA.

2) Accounts payable (AP)

  • 3-way match (PO–DR/IR–SI); validate BIR-compliant receipts/invoices.
  • Compute and withhold taxes (EWT/Final) on vendor payments; prepare check/online disbursements.
  • Maintain AP aging; reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.

3) Accounts receivable (AR) & billing

  • Issue SIs/DRs; post collections and issue Official Receipts.
  • Maintain AR aging, apply EWT/Final tax certificates, and coordinate collection follow-ups.
  • Reconcile sales, deliveries, and collections with production/warehouse logs.

4) Payroll, salary computation & statutory contributions (added per request)

  • Compute salaries accurately for monthly/daily employees, including overtime, night diff., holiday pay, leaves, adjustments, and 13ᵗʰ-month.
  • Run payroll per cut-off; prepare payslips; obtain approvals per DOA.
  • Compute and remit employee/employer contributions and loans: SSS, PhilHealth (EPRS), Pag-IBIG (Virtual Pag-IBIG), using correct brackets/PRNs and ensuring on-time posting.
  • Compute and withhold payroll taxes; file and reconcile BIR 1601-C and issue BIR 2316 to employees annually.
  • Maintain confidential payroll files, employee movements (hirings, rate changes), and reconciliation of payroll GL vs. payroll registers and bank debits.

5) Tax & regulatory compliance (corporate)

  • Prepare and support filing of: 0619-E/F, 1601-EQ/FQ, 2550Q (VAT) or 2551Q (Percentage Tax), 1702 (Annual ITR), 1604-E/C with Alphalists, plus SEC AFS/GIS and LGU annual renewals.
  • Maintain eBIRForms/eFPS backups and statutory ledgers; monitor deadlines to avoid penalties.

6) Inventory, costing & fixed assets (for manufacturing setups)

  • Reconcile monthly inventory counts to GL; review material consumption/waste vs. standards.
  • Maintain fixed-asset register, tagging, capitalization policy, depreciation, and disposals.

7) Cash, banking & internal controls

  • Prepare daily cash position; complete monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Enforce document retention and approval workflows; strengthen segregation of duties.
  • Drive continuous process improvements (cut-off discipline, automation, templates).

8) Ad-hoc support

  • Support audits, due diligence, and system implementations (ERP/Accounting/Payroll).
  • Other tasks as may be assigned by management.
