What You'll Do
As a Legal Manager based in Taguig, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the organisation's interests while enabling business objectives. Your day-to-day activities will involve collaborating closely with various departments to provide timely legal advice on operational matters unique to the FMCG and food manufacturing industries. You will be instrumental in drafting and negotiating contracts that underpin critical business relationships while ensuring ongoing compliance with evolving local and international regulations. By monitoring legislative developments and delivering targeted training sessions, you will empower colleagues across the business to operate confidently within legal boundaries. Your ability to manage external counsel relationships efficiently will ensure access to specialist advice when needed without compromising cost-effectiveness. In addition, you will contribute significantly to risk mitigation efforts by identifying emerging issues early and developing robust solutions that support sustainable growth. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working collaboratively within a knowledgeable team environment where your input is genuinely valued.
- Provide comprehensive legal advice and guidance to internal stakeholders on a wide range of issues relevant to the FMCG and food manufacturing sectors.
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, ensuring all agreements align with regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Oversee corporate governance matters by maintaining statutory records, preparing board resolutions, and supporting compliance initiatives.
- Monitor changes in relevant legislation and regulations, proactively advising the business on necessary adjustments to maintain full compliance.
- Manage relationships with external counsel when required, ensuring cost-effective and high-quality legal support for specialised matters.
- Support cross-functional teams on projects involving product launches, marketing campaigns, supply chain operations, and intellectual property protection.
- Develop and deliver training sessions to staff on key legal topics such as anti-bribery laws, data privacy regulations, and competition law.
- Lead investigations into potential legal or regulatory breaches, working closely with senior management to resolve issues promptly and effectively.
- Assist with dispute resolution processes including mediation or arbitration as needed to protect the interests of the organisation.
- Contribute to risk management strategies by identifying potential areas of exposure and recommending practical solutions.
What You Bring
The ideal candidate for this Legal Manager position brings substantial experience gained from working in-house within the FMCG or food manufacturing industry. Your background should demonstrate not only technical proficiency but also an empathetic approach when supporting colleagues through complex legal challenges. You possess excellent written and verbal communication abilities that enable you to translate intricate legal requirements into practical guidance for diverse audiences. Your proven history of building positive relationships—both internally with cross-functional teams and externally with service providers—will be invaluable as you navigate multifaceted projects. A keen eye for detail combined with commercial acumen ensures that your contract negotiations always serve both compliance needs and broader business goals. If you are fluent in Mandarin, your language skills will further enhance your ability to connect with stakeholders across borders. Above all else, your commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels supported sets you apart as a trusted advisor within the organisation.
- A minimum of six years' experience working as an in-house lawyer within the FMCG or food manufacturing sector is essential for this role.
- Demonstrated ability to draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial contracts with attention to detail and commercial awareness.
- Strong understanding of corporate governance principles including statutory record-keeping and board support responsibilities.
- Proven track record of monitoring regulatory changes and implementing effective compliance measures within a large organisation.
- Experience managing relationships with external counsel to obtain specialist advice while controlling costs effectively.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly to non-legal colleagues at all levels of seniority.
- Fluency in Mandarin is highly desirable; candidates who can communicate effectively in Mandarin may be eligible for enhanced compensation packages.
- Ability to develop engaging training materials on key legal topics relevant to FMCG operations such as anti-bribery or data privacy laws.
