Your Role

The
Legal Manager
for Support unit is responsible for managing legal affairs of support units within organization, including but not limited to Group Human Capital, Operations, Internal Audit, Information technologies and Finance. The specific duties and responsibilities of the position include but not limited to providing legal advice and guidance to support and/or non-sales within MPI to ensure compliance with laws and regulations, reviewing and preparing contract and legal paperwork, and managing litigation and disputes. The Legal Manager supports units shall likewise ensure that all request for preparation and/or review of agreements, contracts and such other agreements to be legally enforceable by in the courts of law. Legal Manager shall likewise handle request for opinions (verbal, written or email), and ensure that the opinion given has legal basis and will sufficiently protect the interest of the bank. The Legal Manager for support officer shall likewise assume the role as the legal sector of Operational Risk Officer and Deputy Compliance Officer.

How can you contribute

  • Provides legal services on agreement, contracts and other formal agreements for operational activities of the company, such as preparation and review;
  • Provide legal services and support concerning all administrative and labor relations matter of the company, including among others, assistance in disciplinary proceedings, special audit investigation, and assistance to Fraud Risk Management in case build up;
  • Provides Litigation Services by filling and representing the bank in cases filed by or against it;
  • Provides legal services and advice to the different support units with a review towards ensuring that the bank's activities and operations are consistent with its policies, existing laws and government rules and regulation;
  • Coordinates and cooperates with external lawyers in complying with government regulations and reportorial requirements;
  • Monitored outsourced cases that filed for or against MPI;
  • Manages internally handled case that are filed for or against MPI; except cases filed by or against the bank in relation to RSME and Global Banking Loans;
  • Supervise MPI'S garnishment compliance from various government agencies;
  • Assess claims deceased and incapacitated depositor's account;
  • Act as resources person for internal investigation or administrative cases;
  • Updates litigation cases for submission to concerned departments/committees;
  • Fulfills the duties and responsibilities of the Legal sector's Operational Risk Officer and Deputy Internal Compliance Officer;

Your Profile

  • Must have bachelors degree in Law/Juris Doctor
  • Must have 1 year practice of Law, Preferably with experience in Litigation.
  • Must be member of Integrated Bar of the Philippines/ Bar Passer
  • Expert in Legal research and drafting/writing
  • Has an experience with Litigation and Administrative Proceedings
