Job Overview

Software Development Manager (SDM) is responsible for leading and managing the software development team to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality software products. This role combines technical expertise, strategic leadership, and project management with a deep understanding of the software development lifecycle and industry trends.

The SDM collaborates closely with cross-functional teams—including product management, quality assurance, design, and operations to deliver scalable, innovative, and secure software solutions. Additionally, SDM plays a key role in mentoring team members, driving continuous improvement, and aligning development efforts with organizational goals.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of software developers, fostering a collaborative and productive environment
  • Provide direction, guidance, and performance reviews for individual team members
  • Ensure the team is motivated, focused, and continuously growing through coaching, feedback, and skill development
  • Oversee the design, development, testing, and deployment of software solutions.
  • Drive the team's efforts toward meeting deadlines and achieving project milestones while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Manage and prioritize the backlog of work, balancing short-term needs with long-term goals.
  • Identify opportunities to improve development processes, workflows, and efficiency.
  • Execute and maintain best practices in software development (e.g., Agile methodologies, code reviews, CI/CD processes).
  • Ensure observation of software quality metrics and best coding review practices.
  • Collaborate with product management to define project requirements, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate across departments to ensure smooth execution and integration of software projects.
  • Monitor progress through regular team meetings, project planning sessions, and risk assessments.

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in software development or software engineering roles, showcasing leadership capabilities and technical expertise.
  • Comprehensive understanding of software development methodologies, such as Agile, Scrum, or Kanban, and how to apply them effectively.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages C#, JavaScript, Blazor, PL/SQL and framework .NET, ASP.NET CORE with a demonstrated ability to write clean, maintainable code.
  • Hands-on experience working with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including deployment and management.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes for application scaling and orchestration.
  • Strong expertise in using version control systems such as Git to manage code repositories and collaborate with development teams.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools like Jenkins, CircleCI, or GitLab CI to automate and streamline software delivery processes.
