The Senior Accounting Associate supports the Accounting Officer by handling essential accounting tasks such as processing transactions, maintaining accurate records, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes. This role is responsible for accounts payable and receivable, general ledger maintenance, and assisting with financial reconciliations and reporting. The Senior Accounting Associate plays a crucial role in ensuring financial accuracy and compliance with internal policies and external regulations.

Job Responsibilities

Effective Communication and Presentation:

  • Work collaboratively with other departments and various business units
  • Deliver reports and analyses with accuracy and clarity

Accounts Payable and Receivable

  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Verify and reconcile invoices, resolve discrepancies, and ensure proper approvals.
  • Manage vendor and customer records and handle queries related to payments and receivables.

General Ledger Maintenance

  • Post and maintain entries in the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting standards.
  • Assist in the preparation of journal entries and adjustments during month-end and year-end closings.
  • Support the Accounting Officer in maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records.
  • Prepare tax schedules and attachments

Reconciliations and Reporting

  • Perform monthly reconciliations for assigned accounts, including bank statements and balance sheet accounts.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports for internal review by the Accounting Officer and Assistant Finance and Accounting Manager.
  • Support compliance with accounting policies and procedures and contribute to audit preparation.

Support for Month-End and Year-End Closures:

  • Aid in the preparation and organization of financial data for month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Coordinate with the Accounting Officer and finance team to meet closing deadlines.
  • Assist in analyzing financial data and identifying areas for improvement or adjustment.

Process Improvement and Compliance:

  • Identify and suggest improvements to current accounting processes to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Support compliance with internal controls and assist in ensuring adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Train and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance on accounting standards and practices.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or any related field
  • At least 2 years of accounting experience
  • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Familiarity with financial software and ERP systems.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensures high accuracy in financial transactions and record-keeping.
  • Analytical Skills: Capable of analyzing financial data to identify variances and trends.
  • Time Management: Prioritizes tasks effectively to meet deadlines for reporting and reconciliations.
  • Team Collaboration: Works collaboratively with the finance team and supports the Accounting Officer and AM.
