Job Description:

We are seeking a Jr. Compliance Staff with compliance, regulatory or legal expertise to provide expert advice and guidance to meet the business regulatory obligations and ensure effective implementation of regulatory changes. Provide support and recommend strategies for regulatory change issues to mitigate business impacts and promote potential business opportunities.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

· Reporting directly to the Compliance Manager, this position will have a crucial role in assisting the account in fulfilling its business regulatory requirements, while implementing strategies amid various energy regulatory shifts and market transitions. It involves collaborating with internal stakeholders across all business units and engaging with regulators to address their inquiries and information requests.

· Assisting the compliance team being the subject matter expert for retail energy regulatory compliance framework with business unit compliance, investigations, and reporting on an ad hoc basis.

· Responsible for ensuring compliance with Australian Energy License Conditions, Regulatory Obligations, Australian energy laws, and Industry Codes

· Set requirements and work with the business units to design and build controls for business processes, systems, and operations to ensure compliance.

· Provide compliance support for the investigation and remediation of compliance incidents. Support dispute resolutions concerning fines or penalties.

· Promote compliance awareness and a compliance culture across the organization.

· Manage all compliance reporting requirements and submission, and responses to requests for information from regulators.

· Lead and support quality assurance and compliance processes, including managing regulatory and compliance audits, leading compliance process improvement and regulatory change projects, conduct risk assessments and develop and deliver compliance training and instructional documentation.

· Develop and manage a master register of non-compliance risks and actively work with management and other stakeholders to ensure that identified risks are effectively managed.

· Identify, escalate and/or manage regulatory issues and risks that have impact on business overall objectives.

· Continuously and proactively drive simplification of processes, systems, and/or automation to reduce costs of meeting compliance requirements and remove complexity.

· Maintain and review compliance documentation and policies related to the organization's business activities. Proficient in developing and implementing compliance policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

· Tertiary qualifications that are relevant to the energy industry and your role. Legal qualifications are highly regarded.

· Has a paralegal or law-related degree or educational background.

· Sound experience and background working in a regulated industry for 1 to 5 years with a legal and/or compliance. Have knowledge and experience working in a heavy regulated experience, preferably within the energy sector will be a plus. Pay will be commensurate experience.

· Experience in building up compliance and risk management functions/frameworks is also highly desirable.

· A good knowledge and experience of effectively managing risk profile, mitigating risks, and delivering bottom line impact to the business from your regulatory expertise, relationships, and creativity.

· You can easily build networks and communicate effectively as you will be required to represent the company on, and attend meetings of, industry working groups, committees, and other meetings of regulatory bodies.

· Structure thinker, ability to structure thoughts and ideas, attention to details, and ability to learn new things quickly.

· Strong problem-solving skills and the capability to address compliance-related challenges effectively.

· Ability to lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

· Professional certifications in compliance or related fields are a plus.

· Ability to thrive in a multi-faceted and fast-paced environment with diverse and global colleagues.
