Job Overview:

Detail-oriented Accountant with experience in Australian payroll processing, bookkeeping and administration. The ideal candidate will assist in managing financial transactions, ensuring compliance with Australian accounting standards, and handling payroll functions efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicate clearly and concisely with clients and staff from all walks of life

  • Handle inbound emails, calls and inquires

  • Prepare and organize databases and reports

  • Manage filing systems, update records, and organize documentation

  • Completion of credit applications for suppliers

  • Process Australian payroll, including superannuation, PAYG withholding, and STP reporting.

  • Perform bookkeeping tasks, including bank reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, and general ledger maintenance.

  • Assist in preparing BAS, IAS, and other tax filings as required.

  • Ensure compliance with Australian tax and labor laws.

  • Maintain accurate financial records and generate reports for management.

  • Support end-of-month and year-end closing processes.

  • Communicate with clients and external stakeholders regarding payroll and accounting queries.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in accounting, with exposure to Australian payroll processing.

  • Proficiency in Xero, MYOB, or QuickBooks (experience with Australian versions preferred).

  • Strong understanding of Australian tax laws, payroll regulations, and compliance requirements.

  • Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Knowledge of cloud-based accounting software and payroll systems.
