Position Description
Connectified – Bringing IOT To Life Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Bookkeeper/Accountant to join our in-office team in Clark Freeport Zone, Philippines.
This full-time role is supporting an Australian client in the IoT and telecommunications industry, and thus follows Australian business hours and observes Australian public holidays.
The Senior Bookkeeper/Accountant will oversee end-to-end accounting and administrative functions for the client's operations.
You will be the lead accounting professional on-site, supported by an Administrative Bookkeeping Assistant and a Junior Clerk, to ensure all financial transactions and reports are handled accurately and on time. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented accounting expert with MYOB AccountRight proficiency and a strong background in Australian bookkeeping to contribute to a growing international team.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Full-Cycle Bookkeeping: Manage all aspects of day-to-day accounting, including Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processing, ensuring timely payment of invoices and accurate billing of clients.
- Payroll Processing: Handle end-to-end payroll for the client's staff in accordance with Australian standards, including compliance with superannuation and tax requirements.
- Invoicing & Billing: Oversee the client's invoicing cycle using integrated billing systems. Ensure that invoices are generated correctly, sent out on schedule, and followed up for payments.
- Bank Reconciliations: Perform regular bank, credit card, and cash reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records and detect any discrepancies promptly.
- Tax Compliance: Prepare and manage tax obligations and filings (e.g., GST/BAS, withholding taxes) in line with Australian regulations and deadlines. Coordinate with external accountants or advisors as needed to ensure compliance.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements, management reports, and budget versus actual analyses for the Australian client. Present clear and insightful reports such as balance sheets, profit & loss statements, and cash flow reports to support decision-making.
- Support & Supervision: Lead and mentor the supporting finance staff. Review work completed by the Administrative Bookkeeping Assistant, providing guidance and ensuring accuracy in all bookkeeping entries and administrative tasks.
- Process Improvement: Continuously review accounting procedures and integrated systems. Recommend and implement improvements or new tools to increase efficiency, accuracy, and compliance in financial operations.
- Administrative Duties: Oversee general administrative tasks related to finance – including record keeping, document filing, and coordination with the Australian head office on finance-related matters. Ensure smooth office operations in collaboration with the team.
Required Skills and Experience
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. (Professional certification such as CPA is a plus but not mandatory.)
- Accounting Software: Advanced proficiency in MYOB AccountRight with a minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience. Ability to leverage MYOB's advanced features for reporting and integration with other systems is essential. Familiarity with integrated billing systems and CRMs related to accounting is highly desirable.
- Australian Bookkeeping Experience: At least 3+ years experience working with Australian clients or companies. Strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards and practices, including experience with Australian tax compliance (GST/BAS reporting) and payroll regulations.
- General Accounting Expertise: Proven experience handling full-cycle bookkeeping and accounting operations. Demonstrated ability to manage AP, AR, payroll, general ledger, and financial statement preparation independently.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy in data entry and financial reconciliation. Able to spot errors or irregularities and address them proactively.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Comfortable analyzing financial data to provide insights or identify trends and issues.
- Communication: Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal. Able to liaise effectively with an English-speaking client and present financial information clearly.
- Software Skills: Proficient in MS Excel and other MS Office applications. Experience with other accounting or project management tools (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, or project tracking software) will be an advantage.
- Team Leadership: Prior experience supervising or mentoring junior accounting staff is preferred. A collaborative leader who can delegate tasks, review work, and train team members in best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Certification: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Bookkeeper credentials are an advantage.
- Australian Tax Knowledge: Familiarity with Australian tax filings and compliance beyond BAS/GST, such as experience preparing financials for Australian tax returns or liaising with Australian auditors.
- Industry Experience: Background in telecommunications, technology, or IoT industries will be a plus, as it can provide context for the client's business transactions (e.g., understanding of subscription billing or telecom invoices).
- Process Improvement Experience: Demonstrated experience in streamlining accounting processes or implementing new accounting software/integrations in a previous role.
- Longevity in Roles: A track record of stable employment and long-term contributions in previous accounting roles, which indicates reliability and commitment.
Working Hours and Location
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, standard daytime hours aligned with Australian business hours (approximately the equivalent of 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM PH time). No night shifts.
- Work Setup: On-site, office-based position. The role is full-time (40 hours per week), and the employee will work from Connectified's office within the Clark Freeport Zone. This is not a work-from-home or hybrid role; daily presence in the office is required.
- Location: Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga, Philippines – a thriving business hub easily accessible from Angeles City and surrounding areas. The office environment is professional and collaborative, with all necessary equipment and resources provided on-site.
Salary and Benefits
- Monthly Salary: Php 60,000 – Php 75,000 (depending on experience and qualifications). This competitive salary range is commensurate with the seniority of the role and the expertise required in Australian accounting practices.
