Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Tunnel Engineer to support the design, construction, and supervision of tunneling works for a hydropower plant project. The role involves planning and execution of underground excavation, ensuring structural safety, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to achieve project milestones.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, design, and supervise the construction of tunnels for water conveyance, access, and related underground structures.
  • Conduct geotechnical and hydrogeological assessments to determine ground conditions and design requirements.
  • Prepare and review tunnel designs, method statements, and construction drawings in alignment with project specifications.
  • Monitor excavation progress, addressing technical challenges and ensuring quality and safety standards.
  • Coordinate with civil, structural, and electromechanical teams for proper integration of tunneling works into the overall hydropower system.
  • Evaluate ground support requirements (rock bolts, shotcrete, lining, etc.) to ensure tunnel stability.
  • Perform risk assessments and propose mitigation measures for tunneling and underground works.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE standards, environmental requirements, and local/international codes of practice.
  • Prepare progress reports, documentation, and technical presentations for project management and stakeholders.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Tunnel/Mining Engineering, or related field (Master's Degree in Geotechnical/Structural Engineering preferred).
  • Licensed Professional Engineer is an advantage.
  • Minimum 5–8 years' proven experience in tunnel design and construction, preferably in hydropower or large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of tunneling methods and ground support systems.
  • Proficient in engineering and design software
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities for coordinating with contractors and multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
  • Experience in underground works for hydropower, dams, or water resource projects.
  • Knowledge of groundwater control, grouting, and waterproofing techniques.
  • Familiarity with international tunneling standards and hydropower project requirements.
