Responsibilities:

Realtime WESM Energy Trading

  • Assist the Trading Supervisor in overseeing and monitoring real-time data input on ACEN trading platforms such as NMMS, CRSS, and others. Coordinate with internal teams (e.g., Plant Operations) and external entities to ensure effective plant dispatch and market operations. Analyze market dynamics and take necessary actions to optimize energy trading outcomes.

Ancillary Services and Reserve Market Operations

  • Assist the Trading Supervisor in overseeing and monitoring the input to the Ancillary Services Web System and Reserve Market Platform. Coordinating with both internal (e.g., Plant Operations, TSD) and external (e.g., NGCP) stakeholders regarding ancillary services and reserve market operations. Evaluating reserve market dynamics and ensuring real-time decisions are made to optimize energy and reserve operations.

Management of Supply and Customer Contract Terms

  • Assist the Trading Supervisor in ensuring proper BCQ (Bilateral Contract Quantity) optimization is followed and in accordance with ACEN's approved protocol, and is submitted in a timely manner

Trading Protocol and Strategy Implementation

  • Addressing critical trading matters promptly, evaluating market risks related to bids, offers, and customer nominations. Aligning trading operations with broader optimization goals and leading the team in executing the trading strategy to maximize energy trading margins.

Internal Trading Reports

  • Assist the Trading Supervisor and Trading Manager in the creation of tools, projects, studies, and financial impact computations, analytical works and perform other functions as may be required.

  • Can act as contingency Trader-on-duty as needed

Requirements:

  • ​​​Bachelor's/College Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.​​
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in energy trading is required.

  • Proficient in BCQ (Bilateral Contract Quantity) creation and processes, with strong knowledge of the following markets: ASPA (Ancillary Services Procurement Agreement), Reserve, and Energy.

  • Familiar with EPIRA, WESM Rules, and DOE & ERC regulations related to Retail Competition and Open Access, as well as the Renewable Energy Act.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Knowledge of Tableau or Power BI is an advantage.

  • Developing proficiency in people management, with the growing ability to effectively lead and mentor 2–3 individuals.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Effective communication skills.

  • Hardworking, honest, detail-oriented, able to work with minimal supervision, and comfortable in a flat organizational structure.

  • Amenable to a shifting schedule environment, as the role may require acting as contingency trader-on-duty.
