Fiscal Incentives Protection and Growth
- Ensure compliance with terms and conditions imposed by incentives granting government agencies for existing fiscal and non-fiscal incentives
- Work with the Legal Division to ensure timely submission of reports required to be submitted under the terms and conditions for existing fiscal and non-fiscal incentives
- Work with different divisions to ensure delivery of commitments made to incentives granting government agencies
- Assist the Tax Head in exploring other areas of the business eligible for fiscal and non-fiscal incentives and in the application process with the relevant incentives granting government agencies
Tax Planning and Support
- Reviews contracts and recommends proper wordings particularly on tax provisions, in close coordination with Legal Department, to avoid unnecessary tax costs
- Collaborates with other functions on issues with tax relevance, which may involve formal communications and/or meetings with stakeholders
- Initiates and recommends proposals to minimise tax liabilities and/or promote tax savings opportunities
- Assist the Tax Head in ensuring that the tax function is abreast with external tax developments and their possible implications for ULP's business
- Assist the Tax Head respond to tax-related queries as may be raised by various functions
- Support other divisions in developing/revising ways of working to incorporate tax compliance in their process
Tax Compliance
- Ensures timely preparation, filing and submission of BIR and LGU administrative requirements, and other statutory requirements on International Taxation (e.g., Transfer Price, Tax Treaty Relief) as assigned by the Tax Head
- Ensures compliance with Real Property Tax (RPT) requirements including timely declaration and payment whilst maximizing available discounts; timely deletion of written-off properties for RPT purposes and depreciation of registered properties in the LGU's records
Tax Assessments and Risks Management
- Regularly monitors the status of on-going tax audits by the BIR and LGU
- Prepares formal communications to the BIR and/or LGU to present ULP's position on disputed issues and/or transmit relevant documents to support such contentions
- Coordinates with relevant accounting personnel in collating documents needed to refute findings raised by the BIR/LGU
- Coordinates with tax advisors, where applicable
- Tax Accounting and Reporting
- Prepares tax reports as may be required/requested by Regional and/or Corporate Tax Department and other departments, such as the Form A, and other tax templates that may be required from time to time
- Identifies and proposes tax issues that may warrant recognition of a contingent tax provision for financial reporting
Others
- Provides various tax data as may be requested by other departments
- Project lead for assigned projects
- Other duties as may be assigned by superiors
Qualifications
- 3-4 years of experience with strong and well-developed understanding of compliance for government incentives (e.g., BOI, PEZA, and LGU)
- Strong and well-developed understanding of Philippine Taxation
- Basic understanding of International Taxation
- Basic Accounting & Finance Skills
- High attention to details
- Exercises professional judgement and objectivity

- Critical and analytical thinking
- Fiscal relations soft skills
