PRIMARY PURPOSE : Trained professional involved in the laboratory work nature of analytical examination of screening drug test assistance
DETAILED DESCRIPTION of TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES and ACCOUNTABILITIES :
A. Professional Responsibility
Projects professional image and follows generally accepted practices regarding interactions with patients, doctors and colleagues.
Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
Maintains laboratory supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting order of supplies; verifying receipt including quality and quantity of supplies.
B. Professional Technical Skills
- Drug Test Analyst must verify the completeness of Custody and Control Form.
Ø SDTL Analyst must validate all pertinent information were properly filled out. SDTL Analyst must fill out Steps 6 of CCF-C (SDTL Analyst Copy) and Steps 1 - 4 and 5 - 6 of CCF-D (CDTL Copy) - if for confirmatory, this should also be filled out by the SDTL Analyst.
- Drug Test Analyst prepares specimen for analysis.
Ø SDTL Analyst's critical responsibility is making sure about COF and specimen's security. Code and signature in a specimen bottle must match with CC before testing is done. The SDTL Analyst must report all rejected specimen to the Head of the Laboratory stating the reason(s) of rejection.
- Drug Test Analyst responsibility during pre-Analytical Phase:
Ø Make sure that all Drug Test Kits (DTK) are validated by the Department of Health. All Drug Test Kits are not expired and stored properly.
Ø Checks the quantity of the sample.
Ø Check if labels are properly done along with proper sealing of specimen bottle.
Ø Prepare and handle specimens with utmost care and accuracy.
- Drug Test Analyst responsibility during analytical phase:
Ø Implements the standard procedure in the performance of test as stated in DTK's insert.
Ø Observes Good laboratory practice after the performance of test.
Ø Perform drug analysis, including urine and saliva tests, according to established protocols and standards.
Ø Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
5. . Drug Test Analyst responsibility during post-analytical phase:
Ø Interprets, validates and ensures results and documents them properly.
Ø Records, releases and signs out the result.
Document and report test results accurately and promptly.

C. Communication:

Possesses a professional speaking voice, clear, easy to listen to with a good grasp of the English Language
Communicates with the patient in a manner appropriate to the patient's ability to understand
D. Critical Thinking, Problem Solving & Decision Making:
Uses judgement and experience in helping to determine the relevant urgency of requests for information received from patients and other external organizations
Ability to handle difficult situations and diffuse potential problems and report complex issues to superior for proper coordination to appropriate source/service providers
Establishes and maintains effective lines of communication with the superiors and other department
E. Information Security
Ensure that all patient interactions and information are dealt with confidentiality.
Executes drug test services using equipment and software authorized by DOH (IDTOMIS) for drug testing
Orderliness, Health and Safety:
Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control and hazardous waste policies and procedures
Wears personal protective equipment
3.Practices good housekeeping and infection control
G. Teamwork
Maintains inter- and intradepartmental work flow by promoting a spirit of cooperation
Contributes to team effort by sharing call duty and working at different shifts as needed
Participates in the Quality improvement projects
Reports any unusual occurrences or requests to the manager or supervisor
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
May be assigned other tasks as needed from time to time.
H. Continuous Learning
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
