Summary: We're offering a unique home-based opportunity for an experienced automation professional to lead our AI Automation division at a London-headquartered software development agency.

Old.St Labs is a designer and developer of cutting edge, bespoke technology products for international clients - from startups to large corporations. Our recent products include an AI-enabled vet management system, an AI maths tutoring app and an app to gather direct healthcare data in the US. We are now launching our AI Automation division to help UK businesses streamline operations through intelligent workflows. We are seeking an experienced and strategic Senior AI Automation Engineer to lead this new team.

About the role: This is a senior leadership position working directly with UK clients to design, architect, and deliver enterprise-level intelligent automation solutions. The right candidate will lead client engagements, mentor junior engineers, and establish best practices for our automation consulting practice. You'll transform complex business challenges into scalable automation strategies using n8n, LLMs, and advanced integration technologies while building long-term client relationships that drive business growth.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead client discovery sessions and strategic automation consulting engagements
  • Architect complex, multi-system automation solutions integrating AI/LLM capabilities
  • Mentor and guide junior automation engineers in technical and consulting skills
  • Establish automation best practices, standards, and methodologies for the team
  • Present automation strategies and ROI projections to C-level stakeholders
  • Design scalable automation frameworks that can handle enterprise-level complexity
  • Drive pre-sales technical discussions and proposal development
  • Manage multiple client projects simultaneously while ensuring quality delivery
  • Stay ahead of emerging AI automation trends and evaluate new technologies
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with key UK business clients

Skills / Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years experience in automation engineering, systems integration, or business process automation
  • Advanced proficiency with n8n, Zapier Pro, Microsoft Power Automate, or similar enterprise platforms
  • Deep understanding of API architecture, webhook systems, and complex integrations
  • Proven experience with AI/LLM implementation in business automation contexts
  • Strong business acumen with ability to translate technical solutions into business value
  • Experience leading client-facing consulting engagements and technical presentations
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor junior team members and establish technical standards
  • Comfortable managing relationships with UK enterprise clients across different industries
  • Track record of delivering complex automation projects on time and within budget
  • Leadership experience and ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment
