Job Description:

Supports the engineering team by ensuring reliable and high-performance application databases. Responsible for database design, optimization, monitoring, and supporting developers with schema changes and query tuning across Postgres, MySQL, and MongoDB.

Primary Responsibilities:

Database Architecture & Design

  • Design and maintain schemas for relational and NoSQL databases.

  • Define indexing strategies, normalization rules, and data modeling patterns.

Performance & Optimization

  • Optimize SQL queries, indexes, and configurations.

  • Analyze slow queries, memory usage, and I/O bottlenecks.

Database Operations

  • Manage backups, restores, version upgrades, and migrations.

  • Ensure availability, reliability, and data consistency.

Developer Support

  • Guide schema design and assist developers with query improvements.

  • Review and refine database changes for maintainability.

Monitoring & Troubleshooting

  • Monitor health (connections, locks, slow queries, storage).

  • Investigate incidents involving performance or data integrity issues.

Security & Compliance

  • Implement roles, permissions, encryption, and secure configurations.

  • Enforce secure handling of production data.

Required Qualifications:

Strong experience with at least two of:

  • PostgreSQL

  • MySQL / MariaDB

  • MongoDB

Solid understanding of:

  • SQL query tuning

  • Indexing strategies

  • Relational & document modeling

  • Backup & recovery

  • Performance and monitoring tools

  • Cloud-hosted database environments

Strong Plus

  • High Availability (replication, failover, read replicas)

  • Database migrations (Prisma, Liquibase, Flyway, etc)

  • DB tuning in containers (Docker, Kubernetes)

  • DB monitoring with existing tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, GCP, AWS)

  • Redis or caching systems

  • Managing large datasets or high-traffic apps

  • DevOps & CI/CD experience

  • Scripting in Python, Bash, or "
