Retail Space Planner

We are seeking an experienced Retail Space Planner to join our team in a remote offshore role based in the Philippines. This role supports the National Visual Merchandising team in Australia and New Zealand by designing and implementing accurate and space-optimised floor layouts for our large-format furniture stores.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in space planning, with strong SketchUp and Excel skills. In this role, Excel will primarily be used to verify the accuracy of items on floor plans and ensure that all fixtures, products, and elements are correctly represented.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and Update Store Layouts: Use SketchUp to create and update detailed floor plans, ensuring they align with the national VM framework and support merchandising objectives.
• Ensure Accuracy in Excel: Use Excel to track and cross-check all items on the floor plans (fixtures, products, space allocation, etc.) to ensure everything is accurately reflected in the layout.
• Merchandising & Product Placement: Optimise product placement, category adjacencies, and customer flow in line with the overall visual merchandising strategy.
• Manage Multiple Projects: Deliver layouts for new store openings, refurbishments, and seasonal updates, ensuring deadlines are met and quality is maintained.
• Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with the National Visual Merchandising Manager and VM teams across different time zones to ensure alignment and efficient project execution.
• Documentation & Quality Control: Maintain detailed records of layout changes, ensuring that the most up-to-date, accurate plans are available for the team.
• Adjustments & Flexibility: Respond quickly to feedback and updates from stores, making necessary adjustments to layouts as required.

Key Requirements:

• Experience in Space Planning: At least 2 years of proven experience in space planning within large-format retail or furniture retail environments.
• Proficiency with SketchUp: Strong ability to use SketchUp for creating 3D layouts and designing accurate store floor plans.
• Excel Skills for Data Accuracy: Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel for verifying and cross-checking the accuracy of all items (fixtures, products, etc.) on the floor plans.
• Visual Merchandising Knowledge: A solid understanding of visual merchandising principles to ensure optimal product placement and customer flow.
• Remote Work Experience: Proven ability to work independently and effectively in a remote offshore role, while maintaining communication with the team across different time zones.
• Accuracy & Speed: Ability to quickly identify and rectify discrepancies in floor plans and ensure layouts are accurate, even under tight deadlines.
• Strong Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with teams across AU & NZ time zones.
• Time Zone Flexibility: Ability to work within AU & NZ time zone hours.

Desirable (Nice to Have):

• Experience working in large-format retail or furniture retail environments.
• Familiarity with store fit outs, fixture planning, or store visual merchandising strategies.
• Experience in space planning for multiple stores or locations.
• Exposure to cross-functional collaboration in remote teams.
