CAD Draftsperson

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented CAD Draftsperson to join a structural engineering team for a New Zealand-based company. This role is focused on producing accurate, high-quality design documentation using AutoCAD and Revit for various structural projects. The ideal candidate will have strong drafting experience in steel, concrete, and timber structures, a deep understanding of New Zealand building codes, and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, architects, and contractors.

To succeed in this role, you must have solid Revit and CAD skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines while maintaining consistent drawing standards.

1. Produce high-quality CAD drawings and 3D Revit models for structural engineering projects.

2. Assist structural engineers with design detailing and documentation.

3. Prepare structural plans, sections, elevations, and detail drawings in accordance with project requirements.

4. Ensure all drawings meet New Zealand building code standards and company drafting protocols.

5. Collaborate closely with engineers, architects, and contractors to ensure project coordination and drawing accuracy.

6. Manage drawing files and maintain proper document control and project filing systems.

7. Support additional in-house disciplines, including potential use of Civil3D (training provided).

8. Contribute to improving team workflows and maintaining consistent documentation quality.

Knowledge

• Minimum 5 years' experience in structural drafting (required)

• Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit, with strong 2D detailing and 3D modeling capabilities

• Strong understanding of structural detailing in steel, concrete, and timber

• Familiarity with New Zealand building codes and structural design practices

• Experience using BIM360 and/or 12D Synergy is an advantage
