The Role

The role plays a vital role in transforming concepts into detailed, manufacturable designs that underpin the success of our bespoke automation and robotic systems. Your expertise in drafting will contribute to the precision, reliability, and efficiency of our solutions, enabling us to deliver transformative outcomes to our partners and clients across Australia.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce accurate and detailed 2D and 3D mechanical drawings for automation and robotic systems, adhering to Australian and international standards
• Translate conceptual designs and engineering input into manufacturable parts and assemblies
• Maintain and update design documentation, including Bills of Materials (BOMs), drawing registers, and revision histories
• Collaborate with mechanical design engineers, controls engineers, and the production team to ensure seamless integration between mechanical and control systems
• Support the development of design concepts through prototyping, drafting alternatives, and providing design-for-manufacture (DFM) input
• Prepare layout, assembly, and detail drawings for machining, fabrication, and installation
• Participate in design reviews, identifying potential issues early and contributing to robust, cost-effective solutions
• Ensure drawings and documentation are delivered to deadlines while meeting quality and compliance requirements

About You

You are an experienced Mechanical Draftsperson with a strong background in automation, robotics, or industrial machinery. With a keen eye for detail and a methodical approach, you excel at producing accurate, high-quality drawings and documentation that support seamless design and manufacturing processes. Collaborative and communicative, you work effectively within cross-functional teams while maintaining a high standard of professionalism and technical precision.

You'll bring:

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Draftsperson, ideally within automation, robotics, or industrial machinery sectors
• Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks highly regarded; AutoCAD or similar also valued)
• Strong understanding of mechanical drafting standards, tolerancing, and material specifications
• Ability to produce and interpret detailed fabrication, machining, and assembly drawings
• Experience preparing BOMs and managing design documentation within PDM or PLM systems
• Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to producing error-free drawings
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams
• Familiarity with industrial automation equipment, robotics, or manufacturing processes (desirable)
