As a core member of our Product Support team you will work with dedicated professionals to ensure our clients maintain access to their critical information assets while keeping Citco ahead of industry trends.

Your Role: 

Citco seeks a Database Technical Specialist within the Platform Services team. The successful candidate will lead a team of database engineers and is primarily tasked with supporting the entire database footprint both on-prem and in the cloud. The position is responsible for ensuring the team operates effectively and efficiently, is properly guided and motivated and ensures customer expectations are managed. This role interacts with most functions across the Citco IT group.The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of building large, scalable infrastructure, and is a creative thinker, problem solver, teacher and learner. This is a hands-on technical leadership role with experience of SQL Server essential, with additional knowledge of PostgreSQL and Oracle databases being a plus. The focus of this role is to ensure optimal database performance, security, and reliability across our organization.

• Key Responsibilities:

1. Database Architecture & Design

• Design and implement database architectures

• Establish database standards and best practices

• Ensure database security, performance, and reliability

1. Team Leadership

• Lead and mentor database administration team

• Coordinate with other IT teams and stakeholders

1. Technical Expertise

• Oversee database maintenance, backup, and recovery procedures

• Optimize database performance and troubleshoot complex issues

• Implement high-availability and disaster recovery solutions

1. Strategic Planning

• Plan database capacity and scalability requirements

• Evaluate and recommend new database technologies

• Develop long-term database strategies aligned with business goals

About You:

The successful candidate is an experienced and energetic contributor, with the ability to build customer relationships, while driving alignment and strategy across the Citco IT group. You can impact both day-to-day service delivery and long-term structural group alignment and strategy definition. Mature communicator, with the ability to effectively convey information of a technical nature to non-technical audiences.

• 8-10 years of database administration experience
• Extensive experience with major database platforms (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL)
• Strong knowledge of database security and compliance
• Experience with data modelling and database design
• Problem-solving and analytical abilities
• Performance tuning and optimization expertise
• Excellent knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL programming.
• Familiarity with database design principles and data modelling techniques.
• Experience with database backup and recovery strategies, including disaster recovery planning.
• Strong understanding of database security best practices and compliance requirements.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proactive, enthusiastic and ambitious with an ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamien t environment.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree or technical qualification prevalent to the position
• Certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Microsoft Certified: Database Administrator Associate or PostgreSQL Certified Associate.
• Knowledge of cloud database technologies (e.g., Amazon RDS, Azure SQL Database).
