Joining a recently opened office in Manila to support a growing UK business in the mortgage market. This is an exciting time to join a newly created team and play a key role in building out the local HR function. You'll help shape processes and provide support across both our UK and Philippines operations, making a real impact as we continue to expand.
What you will be doing
You'll play a pivotal role in delivering a high-quality HR service for our Manila office while working closely with colleagues in the UK. This is a hands-on management role where you'll manage local HR operations including recruitment, onboarding, offboarding, payroll, benefits, employee relations, while also driving process improvements and building a strong HR Shared Services capability. Expect to be hands-on in a fast-paced environment where adaptability and problem-solving are key.
Key responsibilities include:
Act as the lead for local employee relations and disciplinary matters, partnering with UK HR Business Partners to ensure consistency.
Manage end-to-end recruitment and onboarding for Manila-based roles, collaborating with HRBPs to align with company standards.
Oversee payroll, benefits administration, and compliance with government reporting requirements.
Ensure accurate HR administration across the employee lifecycle, including contracts, leave, and offboarding.
Drive engagement initiatives and support performance management and training programmes.
Maintain and improve HR systems (SAP), ensuring data integrity and process efficiency.
Build strong relationships with stakeholders across Manila and the UK, bridging cultural and operational gaps.
Lead and develop a high performing HR team, setting up processes and frameworks where needed.
Step outside of process when required to resolve issues swiftly and manage expectations effectively.
What we are looking for
We're looking for a high calibre HR professional with credibility, strong stakeholder management skills, and the ability to operate on a global scale. You'll be comfortable working in a fast moving environment, balancing hands-on delivery with big picture thinking. This role requires someone who can build, adapt, and lead with confidence.
You'll bring:
Proven experience in HR operations within a global or UK linked organisation.
Strong knowledge of Philippine employment legislation and HR best practices.
Hands-on experience in payroll, benefits, and HR administration.
Exposure to HR Shared Services or centralised HR support models.
Ability to set up, change, or build HR teams and processes from the ground up.
Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to close gaps between local and UK teams.
Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills across multiple locations.
Ability to work at pace, resolve issues pragmatically, and deliver results in a dynamic environment.
Proficiency in HR systems (SAP preferred).
A proactive, adaptable approach with a focus on continuous improvement.
