Wagayway Equality Inc.
is a
volunteer-driven, community-based NGO
dedicated to advancing equality, inclusion, and empowerment for LGBTQIA+ communities in Batangas and across the Philippines.

Our flagship initiatives include:

  • Espasyo
    – a safe community center for HIV services and peer support
  • Equality Desk
    – institutionalized within the LGU, providing HIV, SOGIESC, and human rights services
  • EmpowerQueer
    – socio-economic empowerment programs for LGBTQIA+ individuals
  • Volunteers Academy
    – training and mentoring future champions of equality
  • Kopisodes Podcast
    – a digital storytelling platform amplifying marginalized voices

Through
grassroots action, capacity building, and partnerships
, we co-create inclusive policies, strengthen support systems, and expand opportunities for communities that are often left behind.

Role Description

This is a
pro bono volunteer role
(with flexible arrangements) open to individuals passionate about social change. Volunteers may work
remotely, on-site in Batangas City, or across CALABARZON
, depending on program needs.

As a Volunteer, you will:

  • Support day-to-day program activities, including
    community events, advocacy campaigns, and training sessions
  • Assist in delivering HIV services, psychosocial support, and socio-economic empowerment programs
  • Participate in mentoring and capacity-building initiatives
    under the Volunteers Academy
  • Contribute to
    content creation, digital storytelling, and outreach
    to raise awareness and visibility
  • Collaborate with
    local government, NGOs, and community partners
    to advance SOGIESC and HIV programs

Qualifications

We welcome volunteers from diverse backgrounds. Formal NGO experience is helpful but
not required
— commitment and passion matter most. Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience in
    community organizing, outreach, or event planning
  • Skills in communications, content creation, or digital storytelling
  • Familiarity with HIV services, SOGIESC issues, or socio-economic inclusion
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and stakeholders
  • Passion for advancing LGBTQIA+ rights, equality, and inclusion
  • A degree in social work, community development, public health, or related fields
    is an advantage but not mandatory
