About The Role
Italian Week Ottawa is looking for a Volunteer Treasurer to join the Board of Directors.

One of Ottawa's most iconic annual festivals, and an important symbol of the Italian-Canadian

community's collective identity, Italian Week Ottawa is a not-for-profit organization that is

dedicated to developing and delivering a ten-day festival focused on Italian heritage, lifestyle,

and traditions.

Position Profile

As Treasurer, you will sit on the Board of Directors and also serve as Chair of the Finance

Committee. Moreover, you will oversee all financial aspects of the organization, provide

oversight and advice to the hired bookkeeper, ensure that monthly bookkeeping and reporting is

completed in a timely manner, as well as provide monthly reconciliation reports prior to each

board meeting. In addition, you will assist with preparing the annual returns for CRA and the

annual audit and present the audit to the membership at the Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Furthermore, you will work closely with the Chair and Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors to

prepare a two-year forward-looking financial plan for the organization.

Skills and Competencies

  • A good fundamental knowledge of accounting procedures and practices is required.
  • Experience as a CPA or bookkeeper is preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in the use of Quickbooks Online.
  • Proficiency in the use of Excel.
