Safety Officer

The Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring that the workplace adheres to safety standards and regulations to prevent accidents, injuries, and environmental hazards. This role includes conducting risk assessments, performing safety audits, managing safety training, and fostering a safety-conscious culture within the organization. The Safety Officer works closely with employees and management to ensure compliance with safety laws and best practices, ultimately ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for all.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct Safety Inspections and Audits
• Perform regular inspections of work areas, machinery, and equipment to identify potential hazards.
• Conduct audits to ensure compliance with safety regulations and internal safety policies.
• Document findings and report to management with suggestions for corrective actions.
• Risk Assessment and Hazard Analysis
• Identify potential safety risks or hazards and assess their severity and likelihood.
• Develop and implement strategies to mitigate or eliminate risks.
• Maintain up-to-date records of identified risks and corrective measures taken.
• Safety Training and Education
• Organize and deliver safety training sessions to all employees, ensuring that they are knowledgeable about workplace hazards and safety protocols.
• Provide training on topics such as proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), emergency response procedures, and safe equipment operation.
• Keep training materials updated to reflect current regulations and best practices.
• Develop and Implement Safety Policies
• Assist in the creation and implementation of health and safety policies and procedures.
• Ensure that all safety protocols are aligned with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Communicate policies and procedures to staff and monitor adherence.
• Emergency Preparedness and Response
• Develop and maintain emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures, fire safety, and first aid protocols.
• Coordinate emergency drills and ensure employees know their roles in case of an emergency.
• Ensure the availability and functionality of emergency equipment such as fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and emergency exits.
• Incident Reporting and Investigation
• Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, and near misses to identify root causes.
• Prepare detailed incident reports and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Maintain an incident log and assist in accident reporting to relevant regulatory bodies.
• Compliance and Regulatory Adherence
• Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety laws, such as OSHA standards and other relevant regulations.
• Stay current on changes to safety laws and regulations, ensuring that the organization remains compliant.
• Prepare for safety audits from regulatory agencies and assist in their execution.
• Promote Safety Culture
• Foster a culture of safety within the organization, encouraging employees to report hazards and unsafe behaviors.
• Motivate and engage employees to follow safety protocols and participate in safety initiatives.
• Recognize and reward safe practices to reinforce a safety-conscious environment.
• Safety Equipment and PPE Management
• Oversee the procurement, distribution, and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE) and other safety equipment.
• Ensure that PPE is used properly and is in good condition.
• Educate employees on the proper use and care of safety equipment.
• Maintain Safety Records and Documentation
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of safety inspections, training, incidents, and safety meetings.
• Generate reports on the organization's safety performance and suggest improvements to management.

Qualifications:

• Education:
• A bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field (preferred).
• Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA, or equivalent) is a plus.
• Experience:
• Minimum [2-5] years of experience in a safety-related role, preferably within the [industry-specific] sector.
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal safety regulations.
• Experience conducting risk assessments and safety audits.
• Skills:
• Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and best practices.
• Excellent communication and training skills.
• Ability to assess and analyze workplace risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in MS Office and safety management software.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to conduct inspections in various work environments, including those that may require walking, standing, or climbing.
• Capability to lift up to [X] pounds and handle safety equipment or materials when necessary.

Work Conditions:

Pay: Php20, Php25,000.00 per month
