About The Company
The Company is a leading freight brokerage company based in the Southeastern U.S. with over 35 years of experience in the freight brokerage industry. We specialize in providing a differentiated logistics experience for both shippers and carriers by offering a technology and customer-centric driven service that is responsive and reliable. We are currently seeking a highly qualified Staff Accountant to join our finance team and contribute to our continued growth and success.

Position Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled Staff Accountant to join our growing company. The ideal candidate will be adept at using cloud based accounting software with AI technology, and have a solid understanding of ERP system integrations, particularly in an environment of mergers and acquisitions. The successful candidate must be comfortable handling day-to-day operations and assisting with special financial projects. This role will report directly to the Controller.

Key Responsibilities

• Financial Operations: Assist accounting teaUpgrade to see actual infombers as needed with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and the implementation of new accounting automation software

• Month-End Close: Assist the Controller in calculating and preparing journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts, reviewing the general ledger for accuracy, and generating financial reports accurately and timely.

• Ensure that accounting best practices, systems, and internal controls are followed

• Execute monthly and annual closing procedures

• Support the Controller with ad hoc financial projects and process improvements in the areas of operational efficiency, accounting and reporting, to support the company's goal to become a paperless, AI-driven organization.

• Be able to effectively communicate with operational managers on matters involving financial operations and related to the assigned areas of responsibility

Key Performance Objectives

• First 2 Months: Become proficient in the financial systems, develop a solid understanding of the underlying accounting processes, procedures and internal controls, support the month end close, identify areas for improvement, and work with the Controller to map out a plan for approval

• First 4 Months: Take ownership of specific accounts or areas of the financials, and become a subject matter expert in those areas

• First 6 Months: Engage with the Controller and accounting teaUpgrade to see actual infombers at a higher level, to support the company's growth objectives and to ensure that daily financial operations are running smoothly

Qualifications and Attributes
Required

• Bachelor's degree in accounting

• CPA required

• Strong understanding of US GAAP

• Strong technology and computer skills, possessing the ability to improve efficiency through automation, with recent experience playing a key role in implementing AI-driven platforms

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on accounting experience, including at least 3 years experience working with system integrations

• Thrives in a fast-paced environment while adhering to a strong system of internal controls

• A self-starter and independent-minded professional that also possesses the ability to work collaboratively with accounting teaUpgrade to see actual infombers to ensure that financial operations run smoothly

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, ERP systems and cloud-based accounting software

• Superior organizational, prioritization and time management skills

• Exceptional attention to detail, with a high numerical aptitude

• Strong understanding of financial metrics and the ability to communicate results

• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality

Preferred

• Public accounting experience

• Experience with ERP systems and industry-specific accounting or logistics software

• Experience in retail and/or service based industries

Work Environment

• Full time, remote, employee status

• Occasional reporting into a co-work physical office location in Cebu City for team building and training events

• Must agree to hold this role exclusively, with no other projects or clients

• Align to the organization's eastern time zone working hours (8 am – 5 pm EST)
