About the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade

The role of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) is to advance the interests of Australia and Australians internationally. This involves strengthening Australia's security, enhancing Australia's prosperity, delivering an effective and high quality overseas aid program and helping Australian travellers and Australians overseas.

The department provides foreign, trade and development policy advice to the Australian Government. DFAT also works with other Australian government agencies to drive coordination of Australia's pursuit of global, regional and bilateral interests.

Australia's Development program in the Philippines

Australia provides approximately Php3.6 billion (AUD94.2 million) in Official Development Assistance (ODA) to the Philippines per year. Australia's development cooperation aims to support the Philippine Government's priority development needs across a range of sectors, including climate change, education, health, governance, peace and stability, economic growth and humanitarian and disaster resilience. Australia's development cooperation is guided by Australia's International Development Policy and the Australia-Philippines Development Partnership Plan (DPP

About the Position

Under broad direction, the Portfolio Manager will lead work to shape and influence Australia's climate change support in the Philippines. The Portfolio Manager is responsible for leading, managing and mentoring a small multi-disciplinary team to achieve program outcomes in an inclusive, innovative and collegiate way, in accordance with relevant policies and procedures, particularly the DFAT values.

The Portfolio Manager provides high-quality analysis and advice to deliver an often-complex portfolio of work, including developing effective strategies and working with local partners to implement, monitor and evaluate development activities. The position manages relationships with key stakeholders and facilitates donor harmonisation activities. The Portfolio Manager will provide climate change mainstreaming support and advice to teams across the embassy.
