Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Dental Coding & Audit Support Specialist to support our internal auditing and reporting processes across all 11 locations. The VA will be responsible for reviewing daily dental procedure entries, cross-referencing clinical notes, and ensuring accurate application of procedure codes. This role plays a critical part in maintaining compliance, identifying discrepancies, and helping our office teams take timely action.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily audits of patient reports from each location using our practice management/reporting software.

  • Verify that all procedure codes match the documented clinical notes and services provided.

  • Ensure that patient data, services rendered, and coding are complete, consistent, and accurate.

  • Document audit findings and inconsistencies and prepare summary reports by office.

  • Coordinate with individual office teams to review and resolve flagged items.

  • Maintain an organized audit log with clear tracking of reviewed dates, offices, and status of issues.

  • Support compliance and internal QA processes related to billing and coding integrity.

  • Communicate regularly with the practice administrator and clinical support team.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience in administrative or back-office roles in a dental practice setting (preferably US-based practices).

  • Familiarity with dental procedure coding (CDT), clinical note structures, and insurance reporting standards.

  • Experience with dental reporting or EHR/EMR software (e.g., Practice by Numbers, Dentrix, EZ Dental, Open Dental, etc.).

  • High attention to detail, strong organizational and critical thinking skills.

  • Excellent written English communication and professional email etiquette.

  • Able to maintain confidentiality and handle patient information securely in line with HIPAA practices.

  • Proactive, self-motivated, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
