Purchasing and Inventory Supervisor

Position Objective

The Purchasing and Inventory Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the procurement of raw materials, supplies, and services while ensuring accurate monitoring and control of company inventory. The role ensures cost-effective purchasing decisions, maintains supplier relationships, and supports seamless production and operational requirements of JAM Seafoods Inc

Key Responsibilities

Purchasing:

· Plan, source, and purchase raw materials, packaging, equipment, and supplies in line with company standards and operational requirements.

· Negotiate with suppliers for favorable pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules.

· Monitor supplier performance and ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.

· Process and approve purchase requests while ensuring adherence to budgetary controls.

· Identify new suppliers and evaluate alternatives for cost and quality improvements.

Inventory Management:

· Supervise and monitor daily inventory activities to maintain accurate stock levels.

· Oversee receiving, storage, and issuance of materials to production and other departments.

· Conduct regular inventory audits, cycle counts, and reconciliations.

· Implement effective inventory control systems to reduce losses, wastage, and stock discrepancies.

· Prepare accurate and timely reports on stock status, usage trends, and forecast requirements.

Supervisory & Coordination:

· Supervise purchasing and inventory staff, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.

· Provide training, guidance, and performance evaluations for team members.

· Coordinate closely with Production, Finance, and Quality Assurance teams for efficient operations.

· Support management in strategic planning for procurement and inventory efficiency.

Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field.

· At least 3 years of relevant experience in purchasing and inventory, preferably in the food manufacturing or seafood industry.

· Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

· Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and inventory management systems.

· Excellent communication and leadership skills.

· Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work under pressure
