Job Summary:

The Duty Engineer is responsible for overseeing the daily operation, maintenance, and repair of all hotel facilities, equipment, and systems during assigned shifts. The role ensures that all engineering activities are carried out efficiently, safely, and in compliance with hotel standards to provide guests and employees with a safe and comfortable environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operations and Maintenance

  • Conduct routine inspection, monitoring, and preventive maintenance of hotel facilities and equipment, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and guest complaints related to engineering issues.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure minimal disruption to hotel operations during maintenance or repair work.
  • Ensure all equipment is functioning efficiently and report any abnormalities to the Chief Engineer.

2. Safety and Compliance

  • Ensure all engineering work adheres to safety, environmental, and energy conservation standards.
  • Maintain compliance with local government and corporate safety regulations.
  • Conduct daily safety checks on critical equipment such as fire alarms, emergency lighting, and water pumps.
  • Act as the point of contact for any emergency engineering concerns during the shift.

3. Documentation and Reporting

  • Record and update maintenance logs, daily shift reports, and utility consumption.
  • Report major equipment malfunctions, breakdowns, and completed repairs to the Chief Engineer.
  • Recommend improvements to maintenance procedures and energy-saving measures.

4. Team Coordination and Supervision

  • Supervise and guide technicians or contractors working on-site during the shift.
  • Ensure all assigned tasks are completed within set timelines and quality standards.
  • Conduct proper turnover to the next shift for ongoing tasks or pending issues.

5. Guest and Staff Support

  • Provide prompt and courteous assistance to guests and staff with maintenance-related concerns.
  • Ensure that engineering support contributes positively to guest satisfaction.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related technical course.
  • Valid PRC license is an advantage.
  • Minimum of
    2–3 years
    experience in hotel engineering or building maintenance.
  • Strong technical knowledge in HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, and preventive maintenance.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willing to work on shifting schedules, weekends, and holidays.
