Role Purpose

To maintain the integrity of regulatory accounts and to ensure prompt and accurate submission of reports and returns of HBAP MNL and its subsidiaries and consolidated reports of  the group to various regulatory agencies including BSP, PDIC, SEC and BOT.  To ensure compliance with the requirements of the local regulatory bodies by having an extensive knowledge of the bank's accounts and accurate interpretation of local regulations.

Ensure compliance with the Basel Reporting requirements of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas by managing the delivery of required financial data ensuring their completeness, accuracy and consistency.  This requires having sound knowledge of the bank's accounts and interpretation of applicable regulations.

Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Monitors compliance with statutory reporting requirements of local regulatory bodies - timely and accurate submission of regulatory returns
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory accounting standards - taking appropriate action to address potential breaches in compliance with statutory limits to avoid monetary penalties or possible sanctions
  • Safeguard the Bank from potential loss - analyze and investigate variances and significant movements in local Balance Sheet and Income Statement accounts with a view to spotting and eliminating erroneous accounting treatment and highlighting best practices.
  • Improve process efficiency and effectiveness through process automation
  • Compliance with relevant Group policies and standards.

Leadership & Teamwork 

  • Coordinate/Implement regular updates and upgrades to underlying systems supporting Local Regulatory Reports

Functional Knowledge

  • Maintain and observe HSBC internal control standards, implement and observe Group Compliance Policy, including the timely implementation of recommendations made by internal/external auditors and external regulators.  Foster a compliance culture and implement Group Compliance Policy by managing compliance risk in liaison with the Head of Group Compliance, Regional Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer, ensuring adequate compliance resources are in place and training is provided, and optimising relations with regulators

Experience, Skills and Qualifications  

  • Good understanding of basic banking and treasury products
  • Well developed analytical abilities and oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, HUB and TREATS system
  • Possess the ability to generate reports in conformity with IFRS/PFRS, regulatory requirements and Group policy.
  • Understand financial and accounting data needs.
  • Understand established processes and timelines for the production of financial statements and reports.
  • Be able to research accounting topics and review internal accounting policies for adherence with industry developments and changes in regulatory requirements
