The Production Planning Lead oversees and coordinates all production planning activities to ensure efficient utilization of resources, timely delivery of products, and alignment with customer demand. This role ensures that production schedules, material requirements, and manpower plans are well-coordinated with other departments to achieve operational goals and continuous process improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Production Scheduling & Coordination
  • Develop and maintain master production schedules based on sales forecasts and customer orders.
  • Coordinate with the procurement, warehouse, and production teams to ensure material and manpower availability.
  • Adjust production plans as needed to address delays, equipment breakdowns, or urgent orders.
  • Material & Capacity Planning
  • Analyze production capacity and resource allocation to meet demand efficiently.
  • Monitor material requirements planning (MRP) to avoid shortages or overstocking.
  • Ensure optimal inventory levels to support continuous production flow.
  • Data Management & Reporting
  • Track production progress and ensure targets are met on time and within budget.
  • Generate and analyze production performance reports, including output, downtime, and efficiency metrics.
  • Use ERP or planning systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) to update schedules and track material flow.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Work closely with Sales, Purchasing, Warehouse, and Quality teams to ensure alignment between supply and demand.
  • Communicate production priorities and adjustments clearly to all relevant departments.
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Identify and implement improvements in planning accuracy and production efficiency.
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing and process optimization initiatives.
  • Recommend strategies for lead time reduction and productivity enhancement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or related field
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in production or materials planning within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of production scheduling, MRP systems, and ERP software (SAP preferred)
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities
