A CNC Operator, or a Machining Tool Operator, sets up and operates metal-cutting machinery to build tools and parts of various machinery. Their duties include studying blueprints and creating the design, cutting metal and manipulating it to build the project, and performing regular maintenance on their machinery.

Responsibilities

  • Machine operation: Safely load raw materials, set up and calibrate the CNC lathe according to blueprints, and monitor the machine during production.
  • Quality control: Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet specifications, verify settings by measuring samples, and make necessary adjustments.
  • Maintenance: Perform routine preventive maintenance on the machinery and tools, and troubleshoot any issues that arise.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate production logs and communicate actions to the next shift.
  • Collaboration: Work with engineers and quality control teams to resolve problems and improve processes.
  • Safety and compliance: Adhere to all safety procedures, maintain a clean work area, and follow company policies.
