SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for managing the daily activities and operations required to operate a fully effective trade compliance program to ensure company compliance with US regulatory and internal policy requirements relating to ECCN and HTS classification of technology and encryption products, US export licensing, Restricted Parties List screening and Hazmat compliance classification.
Major Responsibility: Product classification and Compliance Operations
Supporting Actions:
- Set clear objectives and priorities for the team, ensuring alignment with broader organizational goals.
- Organize priorities, allocation or repurposing of team resources to meet operational objectives for the department or function.
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, resource allocation and contingency plans.
- Anticipate challenges and develops solutions before they impact objectives.
- Continuously monitor progress and adjust plans to meet deadlines and budget constraints, maintaining flexibility in response to unforeseen changes.
- Responsible for understanding the downstream impacts of compliance team processes, decisions and actions.
- Oversee the applicability of policies and procedures to ensure adherence to relevant laws and regulations
- Partner and work collaboratively with all business units, including external customers and vendors as it relates to transactions on compliance holds, resolve problems and recommend corrective action when needed
- Leverage judgment and experience to navigate moderately ambiguous practices and policies, defining effective methods to achieve desired results.
- Applies structured approaches to identify root causes and implement sustainable solutions, balancing short-term needs with long-term goals.
- Leverage resources when necessary to develop and maintain detailed processes, guidelines, and templates to ensure consistency and scalability in operations
- Regularly review and refine existing procedures, integrating feedback and lessons learned to improve effectiveness.
- Champion documentation best practices, ensuring all workflows, policies, and standards are clearly recorded and accessible.
- Align and position resources to support system development and enhancement opportunities.
Percentage: 50%
Major Responsibility: Export Audit, Training and Administration
Supporting Actions:
- Develop and implement audit plans to assess compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and organizational goals.
- Define audit scope, objectives, and methodologies tailored to the operational or functional area being evaluated.
- Identify root causes, corrective and preventative actions
- Prepare detailed audit reports highlighting key findings, risks, and recommendations.
- Clearly communicate results to stakeholders and leadership, providing actionable insights to enhance compliance and operational efficiency.
- Anticipate required technical competencies for team to support current and future projects.
- Develop training programs to address identified needs
- Ensure all team members are trained on regulatory requirements, organizational policies, and process updates.
Percentage: 20%
Major Responsibility: Performance Metrics and Analysis
Supporting Actions:
- Develop performance metrics for measuring service level provided to business and measuring team performance
- Utilize analytical tools and techniques to track and evaluate performance, forecast trends, and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Interpret complex data to inform decision-making and improve operational efficiency.
- Ensure analysis is actionable, providing clear recommendations to stakeholders and teams.
- Develop action plans as a result of data analysis, by creating and/or compiling data or schedule; program, service and/or product recommendations as well as other financial or policy data.
Percentage: 20%
Major Responsibility: Team leadership and management
Supporting Actions:
- Manages teams and operations to address complex challenges, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives across global workstreams.
- Align team with company vision and strategy
- Develop, motivate and empower team to build bench strength and team capabilities
- Develop and leverage teams tasked with solutioning for complex and high-visibility projects.
- Encourages collaborative problem-solving by facilitating discussions, brainstorming sessions, and knowledge sharing across teams.
- Encourages team members to take initiative and foster a culture of accountability and problem-solving.
Percentage: 10%
JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in export administration or relevant field.
- 4-5 years of supervisory experience.
- Knowledge and experience with U.S. Export Regulations and Operations including but not limited to U.S. Export Regulations (EAR), Export Licensing, Foreign Trade Regulations (FTR), OFAC and U.S. Customs Regulations a plus.
- Demonstrate strong analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to make well-informed data driven decisions.
- Proactively identifies opportunities for improvement, efficiency, or innovation within projects and processes.
- Demonstrates ownership of tasks and outcomes, driving progress even when faced with ambiguity or conflicting priorities.
- Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment and work proactively with various teams across the organization, but also as a strong team member when the situation warrants.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate and manage to accomplish project objectives within timelines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to articulate and effectively communicate trade compliance subject matter through global, cross-functional teams
- Knowledge and experience of Trade compliance systems and tools (SAP/GTS) a plus
- Skills in MS Excel at an advanced level
