
Sales Development Representative

As a Sales Development Representative, you will be responsible for identifying, prospecting, and qualifying leads to fuel the growth of our sales pipeline. Through outbound and inbound work, you'll be engaging with business leaders of various roles, understanding their challenges, and positioning Degreed as the ideal solution to meet their needs and strategic business goals. You will play a pivotal role in the sales process, setting the stage for deeper conversations and partnerships between our potential new enterprise clients and Degreed.
In this role, you'll develop a deep understanding of our products and how they can impact workforce learning and skill-building at scale. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a dynamic company and work closely with a passionate team dedicated to transforming the way people learn and grow.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and prospect potential new prospects through deep account/contact research, outbound calls, and emails, social media outreach, and in-person events.
- Qualify leads and schedule meetings for our sales team with key decision-makers.
- Leverage sales tools and technology, such as Outreach, Salesforce, DemandBase, and SalesNavigator, to optimize outreach processes efficiently
- Develop a deep understanding of Degreed's platform and how it addresses the needs and goals of corporate learning and development and broader business strategies.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure a seamless handoff of leads
- Partner with Sales Directors to develop deep account planning and outreach strategies, while multi-threading opportunities to progress the sales cycle.
- Maintain accurate records of outreach and lead progress in our CRM system.
- Aid in execution and communication of events (in-person and virtual) to drive attendance and optimize lead and pipeline generation
Key Skills
- Sales Development Expertise: 1+ years of outbound SDR experience with a strong background in sales methodologies and best practices, especially value-based selling.
- Sales Prospecting: Expertise in identifying and reaching out to potential clients through cold calling, email outreach, social media, and other methods (let's get creative).
- Strategic and Analytical: Ability to think strategically, track key metrics, and use data to optimize outreach initiatives.
- Cross-Functional Collaborator: Ability to work closely with departments across the org (i.e. marketing and broader sales) to foster partnerships and align on strategies and goals.
- Adaptable and Innovative: Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new tools, processes, and strategies in a fast-paced environment.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively engage with prospects, convey Degreed's value proposition, and build relationships.
- Active Listening: Ability to listen carefully to potential clients, understand their challenges, and respond with tailored solutions.
- Sales Prospecting: Expertise in identifying and reaching out to potential clients through cold calling, email outreach, social media, and other methods.
- Lead Qualification: Ability to assess whether a lead fits the target customer profile and is ready for further sales engagement.
- CRM Proficiency: Experience using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software to track leads, interactions, and outcomes.
- Time Management & Organization: Ability to manage multiple leads and tasks efficiently, prioritizing outreach and follow-ups.
- Resilience & Persistence: Sales often involves dealing with rejection, so resilience and a positive attitude are critical.
- Research Skills: Ability to conduct research on companies, industries, and decision-makers to craft personalized outreach.
- Collaboration: Willingness to work closely with the sales and marketing teams to align on strategies and goals.
- Goal-Oriented: A strong drive to meet and exceed lead generation and sales targets.
- Adaptability: Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new sales tools, processes, and product updates in a fast-paced environment.
- Product Knowledge: A solid understanding of the platform and offerings, and the ability to convey this knowledge to potential clients.
