  • Leads or participates in audit engagements that have a special/reserve/unusual scope (e.g., investigations, one-off projects, high-risk audits, change initiatives).
  • Works within the unit dedicated to "special projects" (e.g., new business initiatives, strategic change, large capital programs) rather than routine operational audits.
  • Develops audit plans for these special engagements: risk assessment, defining objectives/scope, determining procedures.
  • Performs fieldwork: data collection, testing controls, evaluating compliance or performance, analysing project outcomes.
  • Reviews and signs off on working papers, supports conclusions and recommendations.
  • Prepares and presents audit reports to senior management, possibly stakeholders outside audit (project sponsors, steering committees).
  • Follows up on audit recommendations and ensures implementation of corrective actions.
  • Coordinates with cross-functional teams (project management, operations, finance, IT) given the "special project" nature.
  • May supervise or mentor junior auditors or audit team members.
  • Ensures adherence to audit standards, internal audit charter/policies, possibly external regulatory or funding requirements (especially if the special project is donor-funded or externally financed).
