Safety Officer (SO2) – Contractual (12 Months)

Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified and proactive Safety Officer (SO2) to join our General Construction project team for a 12-month contractual engagement. The Safety Officer will be responsible for implementing and monitoring safety programs, ensuring compliance with government regulations, and promoting a safe and healthy workplace at the project site. Outstanding performance and dedication may lead to retention or extension beyond the project's duration, subject to work evaluation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enforce compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHS) and other government-mandated regulations.

  • Conduct daily site safety inspections and ensure safe working conditions for all personnel.

  • Develop, implement, and monitor site-specific safety plans and programs.

  • Lead toolbox meetings, safety orientations, and training sessions for workers.

  • Investigate and document accidents, incidents, or near-misses and recommend corrective actions.

  • Maintain updated safety records, permits, and compliance documents.

  • Coordinate with project management to address safety concerns and implement preventive measures.

  • Ensure proper use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and enforce safety policies.

  • Collaborate with the on-site nurse and emergency response team for health and safety preparedness.

  • Submit regular safety reports and updates to management.

Qualifications

  • Must be a Graduate of Civil Engineering

  • Must be a DOLE-accredited Safety Officer 2 (SO2).

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in construction safety management.

  • Knowledge of OSHS, DOLE Department Orders, and construction site safety protocols.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills to enforce safety rules and influence safe behavior.

  • Ability to prepare reports, risk assessments, and documentation.

  • Physically fit and capable of performing site inspections and monitoring activities.

  • Willing to work full-time on-site with flexible schedules, including weekends if required.
