Job Description

As a
Packaging Development Engineer,
you will design, analyze, and optimize packaging systems for medical, wellness, and rehabilitation products. You'll lead packaging development, material evaluation, testing protocols, regulatory alignment, sustainability initiatives, and cross-functional coordination with global manufacturing teams. Your work ensures safe transport, compliant labeling, high performance, reduced defects, and cost-efficient execution across the entire supply chain.

The Qualifications We Seek

• Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related field
• 5+ years of hands-on experience
  in
  physical packaging development for FMCG, Consumer Health, or Medical Devices
• Mandatory:
  Demonstrated experience designing packaging to meet
  global regulatory compliance
  , including ISTA transit testing and/or sustainability/EPR frameworks (EU-PPWR, UK-PPT)
• Deep technical knowledge of packaging materials, including rigid plastics (bottles, closures, molds), corrugate/paperboard, and flexible films
• Strong manufacturing expertise, with proven experience in DFM and a solid understanding of tooling and mold design (highly advantageous)
• Advanced documentation and systems skills, including BOM and UoM management, packaging specifications, technical document control, and artwork approval workflows
• Proven value engineering and continuous improvement experience, delivering measurable cost savings and process efficiencies
• MRP/ERP proficiency, especially in SAP, Oracle, or similar systems for maintaining accurate packaging master data
• Strong general competencies, including organizational skills, business acumen, and excellent written and verbal communication with internal and external stakeholders

Technical and Operational Responsibilities

• Lead external manufacturing packaging projects and cost-saving initiatives.
• Develop and refine packaging protocols to minimize damage and transit risks.
• Design primary, secondary, tertiary, and display packaging using various substrates.
• Partner with suppliers, graphics teams, and internal stakeholders on packaging plans.
• Create/review packaging BOMs, UoM data, and maintain specifications and drawings.
• Manage packaging data, QMS documentation, and inspection procedures.
• Conduct testing and value analysis aligned with ISTA, ASTM, and ISO standards.
• Ensure regulatory compliance for markings, labeling, and transit requirements.
• Develop kitting, assembly, and display execution instructions.
• Resolve artwork discrepancies and coordinate offsite assembly as needed.
• Prepare packaging reports, analyses, and supporting documentation.
