Position Overview:

An Production Operator (SMT) is responsible for operating and maintaining Surface Mount Technology machines that are used to place and solder electronic components onto printed circuit boards (PCBs). This role is critical in electronics manufacturing and requires precision, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced production environment. The operator ensures high-quality assembly of PCBs while following safety and manufacturing standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Machine Operation:

  • Set up, operate, and monitor SMT equipment (e.g., pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, screen printers).
  • Load feeders, reels, and components into the SMT machines according to production requirements.
  • Inspection and Quality Control:
  • Conduct visual and automated inspection of PCBs to identify soldering defects, misaligned components, or missing parts.
  • Use magnification tools or AOI (Automated Optical Inspection) systems for quality checks.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on SMT machines.
  • Identify and troubleshoot machine errors or placement issues.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Record production data, machine settings, and inspection results.
  • Report equipment malfunctions or quality issues to supervisors or engineering teams.
  • Team Collaboration and Safety:
  • Work closely with production supervisors, engineers, and quality control personnel.
  • Adhere to company safety policies and cleanroom protocols.

Requirements:

Educational Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical diploma in electronics or manufacturing is a plus.

Experience:

  • Previous experience in SMT or electronics manufacturing preferred.
  • Familiarity with SMT machines such as Fuji, Yamaha, Panasonic, Juki, or similar brands is an advantage.

Technical Skills:

  • Basic understanding of electronic components and PCB assembly.
  • Ability to read work instructions, assembly drawings, and part lists.
  • Skilled in using hand tools, microscopes, and inspection equipment.

Soft Skills:

  • Attention to detail and strong visual inspection skills.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet production targets.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
