Full-time Sr. AR Accountant

About the Position

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accounts Receivable (AR) Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounts receivable processes, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to manage complex financial transactions. This role is critical in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our AR operations, contributing to the overall financial health of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee the entire accounts receivable process, including invoicing, collections, and reporting
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve cash flow and reduce Days Sales Outstanding (DSO)
  • Reconcile customer accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Analyze and report on AR aging, identifying trends and potential issues
  • Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to resolve billing disputes and ensure customer satisfaction
  • Prepare and post journal entries related to AR transactions
  • Manage and train junior AR staff, providing guidance and support as needed
  • Develop and maintain AR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies
  • Participate in month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Assist in external and internal audit processes by providing necessary documentation and explanations
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Continuously improve AR processes through automation and best practices
  • Generate and analyze various AR reports for management and stakeholders
  • Monitor and manage customer credit limits and terms
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure accurate and timely billing
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5-8 years of experience in accounts receivable, with at least 3 years in a senior role
  • Proficiency in AR processes, including invoicing, collections, and reconciliations
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Team player with the ability to work independently when required
  • Experience in managing and mentoring junior staff
Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA certification or actively pursuing certification
  • Experience with AR automation tools and software
  • Knowledge of international accounting standards and multi-currency transactions
  • Six Sigma or process improvement certification
