Job Title: Database Programmer/Encoder Duties and Responsibilities

A. Database Programming :

  • Design, develop, and maintain structured relational databases.
  • Write efficient, well-optimized SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and views.
  • Analyze data flow and translate business requirements into logical database models.
  • Maintain database integrity, backup, security, and user access controls.
  • Create and manage reports, data exports/imports, and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) operations.
  • Optimize performance of large databases and resolve data-related issues.
  • Collaborate with software developers and IT teams to support database functionality.

B. Data Encoding (Administrative & Data Entry Functions):

  • Accurately input, verify, and update data from various sources into the database or system.
  • Ensure completeness, accuracy, and consistency of entered data.
  • Review and cross-check entries for errors and discrepancies.
  • Perform regular audits and clean-up of outdated or incorrect data.
  • Maintain records and documentation for all data management activities.
  • Generate periodic reports as requested by management.

QualificationsEducation:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or any related field.
  • For encoder-focused roles, an associate degree or vocational diploma may suffice if paired with strong data handling experience.

Work Experience:

  • For programmers: At least 1–3 years of experience in database design, SQL scripting, and database administration.
  • For encoders: Prior experience in data entry or clerical roles preferred but not always required.

Technical Skills:

  • Familiarity with data management tools (e.g., Excel, Google Sheets, or ERP/CRM systems).
  • Knowledge of programming languages like Python or PHP is a plus (for programmer-heavy roles).
  • Understanding of data normalization, indexing, and basic security practices.

Soft Skills:

  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving mindset.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
  • Good communication skills, especially for reporting or coordination with non-technical staff.

Additional Requirements (if applicable):

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, especially during deadlines or data migrations.
  • Ability to follow structured data policies and quality control procedures.
  • Can work independently and as part of a team.
