IT Systems and Network Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive IT Systems and Network Engineer with additional Tier 1 support responsibilities to join our team. This role combines expertise in configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting IT infrastructures with providing frontline support for basic IT issues and software like Smartsheet, Ringover, and Bullhorn. The ideal candidate will ensure a reliable and secure IT environment while offering exceptional support for end-users.

Hands-on expertise in network troubleshooting, Microsoft 365, PowerShell scripting, Intune, and Sophos firewalls is required. Familiarity with IT asset management, procurement processes, CCTV systems, and door access controls is a plus.
---Key Responsibilities:1.

IT Infrastructure Management:

• Configure, maintain, and monitor network devices including switches, routers, ISP modems, core switches, and firewalls.
• Administer and support server environments, ensuring high availability and security.
• Perform regular updates, backups, and patch management for all infrastructure components.2.

Tier 1 IT Support:

• Serve as the first point of contact for basic technical issues related to Smartsheet, Ringover, Bullhorn, and other business applications.
• Respond to and resolve common issues such as password resets, account configurations, and user onboarding.
• Escalate unresolved issues to Tier 2/3 support or relevant teams.
• Provide excellent customer service while troubleshooting user-reported issues.3.

Network Troubleshooting and Diagnostics:

• Proactively monitor and diagnose network performance issues, including internet fluctuations and connectivity disruptions.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective measures to improve performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with ISP technicians and other third-party providers to resolve persistent issues and optimize network services.
• Utilize network monitoring tools to detect, report, and mitigate potential vulnerabilities.4.

Firewall and Security Administration:

• Act as the subject matter expert for Sophos firewalls, including configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Implement and manage firewall rules, VPNs, and intrusion prevention systems (IPS).
• Ensure compliance with IT security policies and industry standards.5.

Microsoft 365 and Intune Administration:

• Manage and optimize Microsoft 365 services, including email, Teams, and SharePoint.
• Use Intune to configure, deploy, and manage devices and applications.
• Develop PowerShell scripts to automate administrative tasks and improve efficiency.6.

IT Monitoring and Troubleshooting:

• Monitor IT infrastructure to detect and resolve issues before they impact operations.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot network, hardware, and software issues in a timely manner.7.

Asset Management and Procurement:

• Manage the entire IT asset lifecycle, including procurement, deployment, tracking, and disposal.
• Develop and maintain an accurate inventory of IT hardware, software, and licenses.
• Collaborate with vendors to procure IT equipment and services, ensuring alignment with budget and business needs.8.

Software Support (Smartsheet, Ringover, Bullhorn):

• Provide basic setup, configuration, and troubleshooting support for users.
• Develop and maintain user guides and FAQs for supported applications.
• Liaise with software vendors for advanced troubleshooting and issue resolution.9.

CCTV and Door Access Systems (Optional):

• Assist with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of CCTV systems and door access control systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to security and surveillance systems.10.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Create and maintain detailed documentation for network configurations, standard operating procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
• Generate regular reports on infrastructure performance, security incidents, and asset status.

---Qualifications and Skills:Technical Expertise:

• Proven experience in Tier 1 support for software like Smartsheet, Ringover, and Bullhorn.
• Extensive experience configuring and managing IT infrastructure components such as switches, routers, servers, firewalls, and ISP modems.
• Hands-on experience with Sophos firewalls (configuration, management, troubleshooting).
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and Intune administration.
• Strong scripting skills in PowerShell to automate tasks and processes.

Additional Skills:

• Experience with IT Asset Management and procurement processes.
• Familiarity with CCTV systems and door access controls is a strong plus.
• In-depth understanding of network protocols and technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs).

Soft Skills:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in diagnosing network and software issues.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (preferred).
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in IT infrastructure management and Tier 1 support roles.
• Experience in asset management and procurement processes is required.
• Familiarity with CCTV and door access systems is a plus.
• Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate, Sophos Certified Engineer, or CompTIA Network+/Security+ are highly desirable.
