About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain the data infrastructure that powers the project's Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) system. The role will focus on developing scalable and secure data pipelines, managing cloud-based data warehouses, and integrating geospatial, climate, community, and biodiversity datasets.

The Senior Data Engineer will ensure that all data operations are standards-compliant and support carbon accounting, biodiversity monitoring, and community development reporting. This is a key technical position contributing directly to nature-based climate and sustainability initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable cloud-based data infrastructure to support MRV systems.
• Develop robust data pipelines integrating geospatial, climate, community, and biodiversity datasets.
• Manage and optimize cloud-based data warehouses and ensure seamless data integration.
• Ensure secure, reliable, and high-performance data operations across all datasets.
• Collaborate with analysts, field teams, and external partners to support reporting and decision-making.
• Maintain data integrity, quality, and compliance with project standards and best practices.
• Support carbon accounting, biodiversity monitoring, and community development reporting workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in data engineering, with strong experience in cloud-based infrastructure and big data systems.
• Experience in environmental, climate, or sustainability projects is a strong advantage.
• Proven ability to design, implement, and manage scalable cloud-native data systems.
• Detail-oriented with a focus on data integrity, security, and performance.
• Strong collaboration skills to work with analysts, field teams, and external partners.
• Passion for leveraging engineering expertise to support climate action and environmental goals.
