Key Responsibilities
  • Assign accurate CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes for professional services (ProFee) and/or hospital outpatient or inpatient records.
  • Review and interpret medical documentation to ensure completeness and compliance with coding guidelines and payer-specific requirements.
  • Validate coding accuracy to support billing and claims processes, ensuring maximum reimbursement and minimal denials.
  • Collaborate with physicians, clinical staff, and billing teams to clarify documentation or coding issues.
  • Maintain compliance with federal regulations, payer policies, and coding best practices.
  • Stay updated with coding guidelines, industry trends, and regulatory changes.
  • Participate in audits and provide feedback or corrections as necessary.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives in coding accuracy and efficiency.
Qualifications
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or equivalent certification required.
  • 2+ years of medical coding experience, with strong knowledge in ProFee coding and Outpatient or Inpatient coding.
  • Proficiency in ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
  • Solid understanding of healthcare reimbursement methodologies, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and accuracy in coding.
  • Experience working with EHR/EMR systems and coding software (e.g., Epic, 3M, Optum) is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
